The Last Priest concludes. I've just launched Fall from Grace on Kindle, (phew!). I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions so don't hesitate to contact me, mrezegh@gmail.com.
Here's the synopsis-
As the flames of war spread across NeauvauBerg, Commander Sciatti of the Angelus Spear Commune mobilises his forces, and plots to destroy those who stand against him. A battle is being fought for the future of the dark city and Paradise, one that will see The Last Priest face his tragic past.
After the horrors of the destruction of the pyramid-city of Gandea, Revelle Andreus seeks redemption for his crimes. Following the stranger, he and his companions will embark on a journey that will take them to the very throne room on Paradise itself.
In this epic follow-up to The Last Priest: Desolation, the true purpose and fate of the stranger will be revealed. Will the nightmare land of NeauvauBerg emerge into a new dawn and reach an unlikely salvation, or will tyranny and oppression prevail?
JRR Tolkien’s great works are so much more than The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings or even the Silmarillion.
Case in point: his tale of Aldarion and Erendis from Tolkien’s Unfinished Tales; meticulously edited by his son, Christopher Tolkien. I am currently reading this deeply moving story.
The tale of Aldarion and Erendis is set on an island, Numenor; a land made by the gods as a gift to men. The Numenoreans are gifted with long life, (although notably not immortality) health and wisdom.
Aldarion is the son of the king of Numenor, but at heart, he is a mariner. Erendis is a woman who is in love with Aldarion: and they are both too proud for their own good.
Aldarion sails the seas for years upon years. Eventually he relents and grows tired of the ocean. He marries Erendis after a long courtship. She hates the sea and views it as a competitor to Aldarion’s affections. After their marriage, all is well for the next few years: until the sound of the sea comes again into the heart of Aldarion.
He sails off again into the blue. Erendis is bitter and broken at their parting and this turns to open animosity. In the end when he does return, their marriage is all but over.
I love this story as it goes to the heart of many relationships we all have with our partners. Sometimes we are just too proud or stubborn to say sorry or talk about our feelings in a reasonable manner. To me it is a wonderful story about the importance of give and take to make a relationship work.
I would thoroughly recommend it. JRR Tolkien's well-drawn characters are always at the heart of his books and this is his most moving piece.
You will not find many magic rings or much mention of Dark Lords in Aldarion or Erendis, but you will find a great and moving story.
For readers of the Saviour Series, here is the 1st chapter of the upcoming conclusion to The Last Priest. Click on 'read More' below and enjoy...
US readers please note: this is written using UK spelling; so any spelling errors are entirely deliberate!, thanks!
Thanks for the emails from readers asking about when the follow up to The Last Priest: Desolation will come out. I have completed roughly a quarter of the conclusion to The Last Priest. I hope to complete, proof read and do all the rest by April.
I hope to put out the 1st chapter soon.
Great news for me: the Saviour series is doing well on Kindle in the US
Not so great news: US readers have sent emails about the spelling errors (as it is written using UK spelling)
With that in mind I've changed things around a bit and done a US version of (Savior Series) now for American readers.
I must admit it is a bit of a learning experience. I didn't expect to sell any copies in the US so I am over the moon that it is doing well over the pond.
Another example for me that publishing on Kindle is very much a learning curve.....(but very enjoyable!)
I've done the 3 day free promotion on Amazon for the Last Priest: Desolation. So if you have a kindle be sure to download it whilst it's free (& before it starts charging you again!)
I've had a few emails recently about why I'm using Paradise Lost quotes at the beginning of Stranger at the Gates and The Last Priest: Desolation.
Is it because the old man in my story is a new messiah figure? or is it that the quotes hold special relevance to the story?...
or is it simply a way of padding out my book by using John Milton to lend my sci fi books a bit of gravitas....
Well it's the latter! Ha, seriously though, since I began the series I've found that more of the future- and the past- of where these books are going is starting to come together for me. So as for where all this is going, and why I'm using Paradise Lost quotes, well: I've got a cunning plan......
To mark the fact I am half(ish!) way through completing The Last Priest I have put the 1st chapter at the end of Stranger at the Gates on Kindle.
I must admit that writing this has been really great for me; and just a bit cathartic as well. It is a very dark and quite sad story indeed but I hope it has you interested.
Thanks again to everyone for buying Stranger at the Gates on Kindle- it really has helped spur me on to complete The Last Priest.
All the best,
Michael
